The Iberia Group will strengthen the air connection between Madrid and Menorca during the coming winter season. From November, the company will offer three daily flights between Menorca Airport in Mahón and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, one more flight per day than in its previous schedule.

The service will be operated through Air Nostrum and Iberia Express. The increase will raise the number of seats available on the route by 27% compared with the previous contract and expand travel options for those travelling between the two cities for work, leisure or other reasons.

Tickets for the new schedule are already on sale on Iberia's official website and app.

Three daily connections throughout the winter

The increase in services comes after the Iberia Group, comprising Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum, was awarded the tender launched by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to operate the route between Madrid and Menorca under public service obligations, known as PSO.

The contract covers the winter season, from November to March. During this period, the airline will increase the two daily frequencies operated by Air Nostrum to a total of three flights a day.

The main new feature is therefore the addition of an extra daily connection between Mahón and Madrid. The reinforcement aims to maintain a broader air service during the months of lower tourist activity and improve mobility for Menorca residents.

As well as increasing the number of seats, the distribution of flights throughout the day offers more alternatives for organising return journeys and for connecting with other services in Iberia's network from the Madrid airport.

    Timetables between Madrid and Mahón

The schedule provided by the company includes a daily flight from Madrid departing at 11.35am and scheduled to arrive in Mahón at 1.10pm.

The other frequencies are distributed according to the day of the week. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, a flight will depart Madrid at 7.10am and arrive in Menorca at 8.40am. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, there will be a flight at 7.10pm, landing in Mahón at 8.40pm. On Thursdays, this connection will depart at 3.05pm and arrive at 4.35pm.

The schedule also includes a connection departing Madrid at 8.15pm and arriving in Mahón at 9.45pm, thereby completing the three daily flights announced for the winter season.

In the opposite direction, from Mahón to Madrid, there will be a daily flight at 7am, arriving at 8.35am, and another at 1.45pm, landing in the capital at 3.20pm.

The third frequency will vary throughout the week. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, it will depart Mahón at 9.15am and arrive in Madrid at 10.50am. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, it will depart at 9.15pm, with arrival scheduled for 10.50pm. On Thursdays, departure will be at 5.15pm and arrival at 6.50pm.

    More international connection options

The reinforcement not only increases capacity between Menorca and Madrid, but also improves access from the island to Iberia's international network. Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport serves as the company's connecting hub, allowing passengers to connect from Mahón with flights to numerous international destinations.

Antonio Linares, Iberia's Sales Director for Spain, Portugal and North Africa, said that adding a daily flight during the winter represents «a fundamental step towards overcoming seasonality and making everyday life easier both for those travelling for work and for leisure».

According to the executive, the new timetable will also make it possible to connect Menorca «much more directly and conveniently» with the airline's international network through its Madrid hub.

The company points out that flights between the two cities provide access to more than 100 Iberia international destinations. The distribution of frequencies at different times of day is intended to facilitate these connections and offer more options to travellers beginning their journey in Menorca.

A route subject to public service obligations

The winter connection between Madrid and Menorca operates under public service obligations. This framework is linked to the tender launched by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, which the Iberia Group was awarded.

With the signing of the new contract, the service will increase from two to three daily frequencies and the number of seats will rise by 27% compared with the previous contract. The expansion maintains a daily connection between the island and the capital during the months from November to March.

The Iberia Group places this operation within its longstanding commitment to connectivity in the Balearic Islands. Until now, Air Nostrum, Iberia's regional subsidiary, was responsible for operating two daily frequencies during the winter. The new award adds a third connection each day.

For residents, the expansion means more times available for travelling to Madrid or continuing on to other destinations. At the same time, the service also supports the arrival of visitors to Menorca outside the months when tourist activity is at its highest.

Increased service also during the summer

The winter schedule comes in addition to the capacity increase planned by Iberia Express for the summer season. The airline will approach 1,200 flights to Menorca and exceed 230,000 seats, a figure representing 17% growth compared with 2025.

During the busiest weeks of the summer, Iberia Express will operate an average of 56 flights a week. On some days, it will offer up to five frequencies between Madrid and Menorca.

This summer service aims to meet increased demand during the busiest months, while the addition of a third daily flight in winter is intended to strengthen the continuity of the connection throughout the rest of the year.

The combination of both schedules expands the alternatives for travelling to and from the island and improves the possibilities of connecting in Madrid with Iberia's international network. The increased service benefits both residents who need to travel and visitors arriving in Menorca throughout the different seasons.

    Tickets already available

Flights in the new winter schedule can already be booked through Iberia's official website and the airline's app. The frequencies will begin operating in November and continue throughout the winter season, until March.

With three daily flights, 27% more seats and timetables spread throughout the day, the Iberia Group is expanding its service between Mahón and Madrid and strengthening the capital's role as Menorca's gateway to more than 100 international destinations.
