The programme’s new edition will review the key features of his style alongside experts Luis Aller, Quim Casas, Vicente Sánchez-Biosca and Antonio Weinrichter. In addition, the La 2 programme will cover the releases of ‘The End of Oak Street’ and ‘Palestine 36’.
The programme will be broadcast on Saturday 15 August at 7.35pm on La 2 and RTVE Play. For the second consecutive week, the episode continues the tribute to one of the essential names in the history of cinema.
The key features of Fritz Lang’s cinema
Fritz Lang was responsible for films regarded as masterpieces, such as ‘Metropolis’, ‘M’, ‘Fury’ and ‘The Big Heat’. His filmography and his approach to cinema will be the focus of a segment in which several specialists will analyse the most characteristic elements of his style.
Luis Aller, Quim Casas, Vicente Sánchez-Biosca and Antonio Weinrichter will take part in this examination of the director’s work. Their contributions will help explore Lang’s cinematic signature and review his importance within the history of the seventh art.
The broadcast thus adds to the tribute that ‘Días de cine’ is dedicating to the filmmaker to mark the 50th anniversary of his death. Following the first part broadcast the previous week, the programme now broadens its view of his techniques and principal characteristics as a director.
‘The End of Oak Street’, a fantasy release
Among the releases reviewed by the programme this week is ‘The End of Oak Street’, a fantasy film starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.
The film is directed by David Robert Mitchell, a filmmaker known for titles such as the horror film ‘It Follows’ and the surrealist offering ‘Under the Silver Lake’. The programme will analyse this new work as part of its coverage of films arriving in cinemas.
Hathaway and McGregor’s presence at the head of the cast is one of the highlighted aspects of this release, which is presented as one of the week’s titles included in the new edition of ‘Días de cine’.
‘Palestine 36’ recreates a crucial moment
The second highlighted film is ‘Palestine 36’, a title directed by Annemarie Jacir that recreates a crucial moment in the history of Palestine.
The action is set in 1936, a year in which tensions intensified between Palestinians and the Jews arriving in increasingly large numbers in their land. The film addresses this historical period through a story featuring actors including Jeremy Irons, Hiam Abbas and Robert Aramayo.
‘Días de cine’ will include the release of ‘Palestine 36’ among the content of its next broadcast, alongside its analysis of ‘The End of Oak Street’ and the tribute to Fritz Lang.
With this content, the programme will combine a review of the work of a key filmmaker in the history of cinema with the latest releases in cinemas. It will be broadcast on Saturday 15 August at 7.35pm on La 2 and RTVE Play.
