El Corte Inglés supported a total of 4,176 social, cultural and sporting activities during 2025, at local, national and international level. The company developed these initiatives through three main areas: sport, culture and social commitment, with the aim of maintaining close relationships with the communities in which it operates.
The group’s activities included sports sponsorships, collaborations with cultural institutions, its own programme in the Ámbito Cultural venues, and agreements with foundations, associations and social organisations. Taken together, these activities were aimed at promoting active lifestyles, facilitating access to culture and supporting projects related to health, children, young people and inclusive local development.
286 sporting initiatives and investment of €2.62 million
Sport is one of El Corte Inglés’ main areas of activity because of its contribution to health, wellbeing and inclusion. During 2025, the group sponsored 286 sporting initiatives, with an investment of €2.62 million.
These activities covered different disciplines and encouraged participation by people of all ages and groups. The company says that, through this support, it also promotes values such as effort, self-improvement, equality and cooperation, as well as contributing to the promotion of active lifestyles.
The initiatives supported included sporting events that helped enliven the social and cultural life of the communities where El Corte Inglés operates. The material highlights the sponsorship of the Trofeo Campeones Valores Mundo Deportivo in Barcelona and the National Sports Press Gala.
These activities were joined by 160 corporate and institutional sponsorships linked to sport and education, developed in collaboration with public and private organisations. According to the company, these projects strengthen social cohesion, create opportunities, promote learning and encourage the participation of different groups.
Culture: 232 initiatives and an in-house programme with thousands of activities
In the cultural sphere, El Corte Inglés took part in 232 initiatives during 2025, with an investment of €1.58 million. The group strengthened its collaboration with leading institutions such as the Museo Nacional del Prado, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Teatro Real and the Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza, among other organisations.
The company was also involved in music projects such as the 40 Principales Music Awards, Mallorca Live Festival and Las Noches del Botánico. Its cultural activity also included festivals, educational projects and celebrations linked to different territories, such as the Premios Taurinos Puerta del Príncipe in Seville, the Certamen de Moda Aguja Goyesca in Zaragoza, the Fallas de Valencia, the Carnival of Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Programa de Emprendimiento StartInnova Santander.
A significant part of this programme is delivered through Ámbito Cultural de El Corte Inglés, which celebrates 30 years of activity in 2026. Over these three decades, this space has organised more than 30,000 free cultural events and established itself as a means of accessing cultural creation, programming and dissemination.
Ámbito Cultural currently has 18 venues in Spain and two in Portugal. In the last financial year it organised 2,856 cultural activities, of which 1,893 took place in Spain and 963 in Portugal. These events attracted around 151,000 people.
The programme was expanded through 104 streaming broadcasts made from the Callao venue in Madrid. In addition, Ámbito Cultural’s content generated more than 46 million views across live broadcasts and social media.
The space also takes part in initiatives aimed at promoting artistic and literary creation, including the Premio Primavera de Novela, the Premio Ateneo de Sevilla and the Premio de Novela Getafe Negro. It also organises the Premio Nacional de lírica de Poesía Viva, one of the awards linked to this genre.
One of the year’s highlights was the work by artist Soledad Sevilla at the Serrano and Preciados centres, as part of the programme of interventions at the ARCOmadrid art fair. The project brought contemporary art into two commercial spaces in Madrid.
Another notable activity was the celebration of World Poetry Day alongside the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid. The initiative included poetry recitals in different rooms of the museum and attracted media coverage.
More than €2.7 million for social commitment initiatives
The group’s social commitment is structured around three pillars: health and wellbeing, children and young people, and inclusive local development. In 2025, El Corte Inglés carried out 538 social commitment initiatives and allocated €2,763,465 to them.
Of this amount, €620,225 came from direct donations by the group, while €2,143,240 was raised through customer purchases at its centres. By area, 51.6% of contributions went to inclusive local development projects; 26.7% to health and wellbeing; 16.3% to children and young people; and the remaining 5.3% to cross-cutting activities.
Support for research and families affected by cancer
In the area of health and wellbeing, El Corte Inglés has worked with the Asociación Española contra el Cáncer for more than ten years to promote research projects related to breast cancer. The company says it is among the five major Spanish companies that have contributed the most funds to the association.
It also worked during 2025 with the Fundación Aladina, which develops comprehensive programmes in different Children’s Oncology Units. The aim of these initiatives is to improve the quality of life of hospitalised children and their families.
This collaboration includes the charitable “Animaladinos” project, a collection of soft toys made from 100% sustainable materials, with all proceeds going towards funding the foundation’s programmes.
The group also works with the Fundación El Sueño de Vicky to promote research into less common types of childhood cancer. In this case, part of the proceeds from the sale of UNIT children’s fashion collections is allocated to this cause.
Toys and support for children
El Corte Inglés also maintains initiatives aimed at protecting and promoting children’s rights and improving living conditions and access to education for vulnerable children and adolescents.
During the 2025 Christmas campaign, the company donated more than 5,200 toys to over 50 organisations, including NGOs, foundations, parishes and charity jumble sales. The aim of this activity was to encourage learning through play.
It also made a selection of products bearing the “Charity toy” label available to customers in its physical shops, website and app. For every toy purchased from this selection, the company donated one additional euro to organisations supporting children, including Cruz Roja Juventud and the Fundación Aladina.
Collaboration with Food Banks and Cáritas
Inclusive local development was the main destination for the social commitment initiatives carried out in 2025. In this area, El Corte Inglés worked with the Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos through its 54 Food Banks.
The two campaigns organised during the year raised and distributed food worth a total of €1,019,156, aimed at people in vulnerable situations.
The company also maintains an alliance with Cáritas España through containers installed at its shops and workplaces for the collection and recycling of used clothing. This initiative combines textile sustainability with the creation of employment and training for people at risk of social exclusion, supporting their integration into the workforce.
Finally, customers can support different NGOs at the tills of Supermercados El Corte Inglés, Hipercor, Supercor and Sánchez Romero by purchasing charity cards worth one, three or five euros. These contributions go to different social organisations.
